Hi, there! I’m Leah.

Lifelong learner, creative artist, and movement aficionado who loves helping adults move freely and joyfully.

What I’m about

My life’s work is to help humans move better. I work with everyone — from people who have never stepped foot on a dance floor to seasoned professional dancers looking to amplify their performance.

My movement journey

Growing up, I felt most myself when I was moving. This love of dance brought me to the Bay Area for undergrad, where I studied Dance and Performance. After graduation, I spent my 20s living the life of a creative.

By day, I taught yoga and pilates classes, worked with the Central Asian Fusion Company, and continued to study and deepen my dance techniques in ballet, contemporary, house, floorwork, classical Indian dance, and Sufi whirling.

By night, I danced in clubs and Moroccan lounges. No matter the style of dance or performance location, I experienced movement as art and a way to express myself.

From performer to movement teacher

After years of performing, I was ready to deepen again. While I pursued my MFA in Boulder, CO, I experimented with new movement styles like breaking, Capoeira roda, and Gaga, and began studying mobility through the GYROTONIC® method.

I became deeply invested in the local movement community and regularly taught and attended classes at Ape Co Movement School. The movement community in Colorado deepened my love of the spiritual and communal aspects of dance, and it solidified my identity as a teacher, coach, and movement educator.

Chronic pain becomes personal

In 2019, a triple tendon avulsion in my right groin transformed my relationship to movement. Chronic pain, injury recovery, and rehab were no longer theoretical fields of study. It was now my personal experience.

For five years, I learned and relearned to move. During this time, I underwent five surgeries, which finally led to a full hip replacement. Patience, chronic pain reprocessing, and GYROTONIC® sessions became some of my most-used tools.

I saw firsthand the resilience of the body. Though it took time and effort, I was able to build myself all the way back and rediscover safety, mobility, and joy in movement.

Creativity & community in motion

Today, it is my honor to share with others what I’ve learned along the way of a nearly two-decade-long movement journey.

All bodies hold stories, answers, and history. Together, we can listen and learn new ways of dancing, performing, connecting, and taking care of ourselves for the years to come.

Movement is our universal human right.
Every body deserves to express, play, and belong.
